Iowa Invasive Species Conference (IISC)
The goal of IISC is to strengthen the management of invasive species, especially prevention, control, and containment. A statewide conference will bring information and resources to invasive species professionals in a social, educational, professional networking format that is otherwise non-existent in the state of Iowa. The objective for creating an Iowa Invasive Species Conference is to provide a learning opportunity that natural resource professionals will be able to attend.
IISC planning committees expect attendees to come from a broad range of management, policy, and academic areas including private citizens. The conference invites researchers, land managers, natural resource professionals, university personnel, landscape and nursery professionals, agriculture and forestry employees, environmental specialists, watershed coordinators/managers, land owners, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and anyone interested in managing the spread of invasive species in Iowa to attend IISC.
The conference will consist of concurrent sessions with presentations covering terrestrial, aquatic, and invasive pest concerns and solutions; a plenary that brings everyone together, and many social networking opportunities.
The Honey Creek Resort at Rathbun Lake will provide a beautiful setting for the conference. Attendees can take a break from the usual routine to learn invasive species identification, best management techniques, and network with others interested in preventing the spread of invasive species in Iowa and surrounding states.
